*Please note that this is a part-time role up to 15 hours per week
covering a range of classes from 6am-8pm that vary in length from 30
minutes-55 minutes.

The Opportunity
To motivate, promote & praise all participants and carry out classes on
a weekly basis, maintaining high standards of service and a professional
manner at all times.
To have all classes planned and ready for instruction and actively
encourage and promote members to regularly participate in classes.
To keep classes current and fresh with regular new routines. • To use
relevant and progressive & Regressive exercises & teach with
choreography
To assist in maintaining a safe, tidy and pleasant environment for class
participation. • To carry out all safe systems of work and comply with
daily operating procedures relating to the delivery of classes and area
checks. • To maintain a positive attitude and keep yourself physically fit
To act as a good role model for customers.
To ensure the provision of good customer care.
Accountabilities
- To plan a safe and effective class for participants.
- To instruct a safe and effective class for all participants.
- To ensure classes are run safely and conduct pre class briefings.
- To select appropriate music
- To act in a manner which is professional and exhibits the right
skills and behaviours
- To promote Castle Point Borough Council in a positive manner in
line with its policies and cultures.
- To contribute to achieving the Council’s corporate objectives and
priorities.
- To contribute to achieving the Council’s agenda for achieving
continuous improvement in service delivery.
- To report any defects with equipment promptly to centre
management.
- To design & teach a variety of different appropriate exercises
- To address safety at all times.
- To ensure high standards are maintained and that the area is free
of any hazards.
- To demonstrate the correct way to use exercise equipment and give
advice and encouragement.
- To use progressive and regressive exercise for special populations
and those with possible or different injuries.
- To ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and
processes.
- To deliver a variety of class exercises and music to keep classes
fresh and members interested and motivated.
- To be smart and presentable at all times and to comply with the
uniform policy.
- To liaise with service managers and actively promote new ways of
working and suggestions for service improvement.
- To promote classes to members and to work to retain membership and
class numbers.
- To undertake any training as required including recognised
coaching qualifications, enhanced level certificates in fitness training,
first aid, customer care.
- To motivate and praise customers whilst delivering classes.
- To undertake classes as requested by the Health & Fitness
Manager consistent with relevant qualifications held.
- To work at any of the Council’s Leisure facilities as required.
- To have a positive attitude and to maintain the highest standards
of customer care in order to facilitate retention.
- To perform any other duties commensurate with the grade of this
post that may be required from time to time.
- To be familiar with Equal Opportunities good practice and with the
Council’s requirements for Diversity and to implement this in all aspects
of working practice and promote it in the team and workplace.
- To comply with the centres operating procedures and to be aware of
any responsibilities contained therein e.g. Emergency Action Plan.
- To deliver in house classes to the standard set by the Health and
Fitness Manager
- To increase capacity and growth of classes set by the Health and
Fitness Manager
- To be respectful of customers and clients needs and maintain
client confidentially.
- To seek advice from the Health & Fitness manager if you are in
anyway unsure of risks or potential customer injuries.
The Experience You Will Bring
- Able to communicate effectively and represent the council in a
positive and professional manner
- Excellent IT skills, including use of a wide range of software
packages such as Microsoft, CRM, internet, switchboard, and telephony
systems
- Knowledge of the procedures, operational functions, and
legislative requirements of a wide range of Council services
- Excellent track record of delivering services with high customer
satisfaction
- Proven experience in delivering a professional and effective
reception services
