Maldon District Council is working in partnership with Essex Shared Services to support the recruitment of the role of a S106 and Monitoring Officer, a full-time position offering hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Office attendance will be in line with the needs of the Council and the Planning Policy Team, including occasional evening committees or meetings where necessary. The role is within the Council’s Planning Policy team, which is part of the Place, Planning & Growth directorate. This is an exciting time to join the Planning Policy Team at Maldon District Council. The Council has recently agreed proposals to commence preparation of the new Local Plan. We are the first local authority in Essex to be producing a Local Plan under the new 30-month plan-making system, which will set out a long-term vision for Maldon District, including where homes, jobs and infrastructure should be located, how high-quality design will be supported and how the district’s distinctive natural and historic environment will be protected and enhanced. We are also involved in a wide range of ongoing planning policy work outside of the new Local Plan, including supporting Parish Councils with neighbourhood plans, managing S106 agreements, undertaking monitoring activities and producing the Authority Monitoring Report (AMR). Alongside this, we are also working closely with our Development Management colleagues on a number of significant development proposals currently being brought forward by developers.
