Who You Are
An experienced and fully qualified accountant with substantial post-qualification experience. You have a strong background in senior finance roles, ideally within the public sector or a complex organization. You are familiar with technical accounting, budgeting cycles, and financial strategy. Your communication skills allow you to influence at senior levels, and you have experience with financial systems transformation.
What the Job Involves
As the strategic and operational leader of the Combined Authority’s finance function, you will ensure robust financial management, compliance, and drive transformation as the organization evolves post-devolution. You will lead the production of quarterly budget reports and manage the year-end audit. You'll support the transition from Xero to Oracle and drive continuous improvement in financial systems and processes. Additionally, you will provide expert financial advice, oversee service-level agreements, and deputize for senior finance leadership as needed.
Skills
- Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent)
- Proven leadership in senior finance roles
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Experience with budgeting cycles and financial strategy
- Familiarity with financial systems transformation
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Desirable: Experience in local government
- Desirable: Knowledge of CIPFA and public sector regulations
