You are compassionate and have strong interpersonal skills, driven by a passion for helping those affected by homelessness. You possess the ability to evaluate and act decisively, understand complex legislation, and work collaboratively with partners and agencies. You are committed to making a difference by preventing and alleviating homelessness.

What the Job Involves

Your role is to intervene early in the homelessness process, working directly with affected individuals to prevent and manage crisis situations. You will:

  • Triage new approaches, providing quality preventative advice and assessments.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and manage interventions via Personal Housing Plans.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve homelessness issues.
  • Evaluate Transitional Accommodation needs and ensure organizational compliance with relevant housing legislation.
  • Handle safeguarding issues and make necessary referrals.
  • Engage with all stakeholders to develop and review personalized housing plans.
  • Provide a proactive homelessness prevention and advice service.
  • Liaise with various parties to prevent or alleviate homelessness.
  • Conduct interviews and home visits, applying homelessness laws and guidance.
  • Explain housing solutions and mediate to avoid potential homelessness cases.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage client expectations regarding housing solutions.
  • Stay informed about relevant case law and legislation.
  • Work with temporary accommodation teams to support client rehoming efforts.
  • Provide advice on the council's housing register and complete accommodation suitability assessments.
  • Work primarily two days in the office per week with flexibility to attend meetings.
