Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Maldon District Council to recruit a Principal Building Control Surveyor on an initial 3-month temporary basis.

Key Accountabilities

We are looking for a qualified Principal Building Control Surveyor to support the delivery of our Building Control team through undertaking assessing a range of Building Control applications suitable to your accreditation.

Main responsibilities:

  • Carry out site inspections and plan checking (min 2 days on site per week)
  • Attend to dangerous structures
  • Carry out enforcement of The Building Regulations and Building Act as necessary
  • Supervise senior, junior surveyors and admin staff
  • Deputise for the Building Control Manager when required
  • Assist the Building Control Manager in the implementation of the BSR operational Standards
  • Assist the Building Control Manager in procedural changes to the service
  • Plan checking 

Please note that this post requires you to be based in the office 1 day a week with addtional travel around the district to do site inspections for 2 days per week.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Professional qualifications by one the chartered institutes with a specialism in Building Control
  • Minimum Class 2F Registration and Chartered with CIOB/ RICS/ CABE
