p>Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Harlow Council to recruit a temporary Technical Support Officer - Compliance on a 12-month basis. Please note that this post requires the successful individual to be based on site 3 days per week.

Harlow is a district of contrasts and an ideal location to both live and work. The town itself is thriving, with excellent shopping and leisure facilities for all ages. We have good road links to the M11 and M25 and excellent rail connections to London and Stansted Airport, just 35 minutes and 20 minutes away from Harlow respectively.

Job Purpose:

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our compliance team as a technical support officer. Being reliable and a team player is key - a willingness to support colleagues and contribute positively within a busy local government environment.

The right candidate must also be enthusiastic with a can-do attitude with an aptitude for learning new technical and administrative processes quickly.

The Role:

Provide support to the compliance team with respect to: 

  • General administration –
    • Meeting notes filing certificates etc.
    • Booking appointments for statutory compliance checks.
    • Monitor internal systems for alerts and bring them to the attention of the appropriate technical officer.
    • Receive and log enquiries and bringing to the attention of the appropriate technical officer.
    • Monitor other sources of enquiry such as our email inbox etc. and bring matters to the attention of the appropriate technical officer.

The experience you will bring:

  • An interest in working within the housing repairs and maintenance sector
  • Willing to learn and adapt to working with a technical compliance team
  • Awareness of good customer service and the importance of health and safety in a housing environment
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE( or equivalent) including English and Maths or demonstrable relevant customer service/admin. experience
  • IT literate good working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Excel with an ability to accurately input data
  • Data management – ability to maintain accurate records and track progress (e.g. logging calls, processing forms
  • Clear, confident communicator suitable for speaking with residents, contractors, and colleagues
  • Good time management with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
