Compliance Business Support Officer

Full Time– 37 hours

Grade 4 - £29064 – £30,518 pa

Closing Date - 02nd November 2025

Castle Point Borough Council are keen to appoint a Compliance Business Support Officer to work in the Housing Services Directorate, to be a part of the team to deliver a resident focused, data led, performance driven service. Ensuring that the homes are maintained in accordance with agreed quality standards. You will contribute to ensuring the delivery of a customer focused, effective and value for money service, reflecting the highest standards of service excellence.

Please note that this role will be based in the council offices and will require regular travel to sites in the borough. Driving Licence and suitable own transport with business insurance is required.

Key Skills and abilities

• To maintain and build upon the existing partnership ethos and work within compliance team, wider Housing technical services team and Contractors to ensure all compliance areas are meeting requirements of legislation. 
• To work alongside the compliance manager providing technical expertise for all statutory and non-statutory compliance areas of Asbestos, Gas, Electric, Fire Safety, Water Hygiene, Lifts.
• To be able to raise, check and evaluate asbestos surveys. To provide guidance on results and advise on necessary actions in the management or removal of licensed or unlicensed asbestos containing materials.
• To raise and supervise any works orders resulting from the asbestos surveys with all work complying with the relevant Health and Safety legislation and recording results on the asbestos register. Castle Point instigates all asbestos surveys and licensed removals only.
• To ensure our contractors is completing services and providing relevant certification within the timescales set out in the contract.
• To assist the compliance Manager in ensuring all remedial works across all compliance areas are raised, tracked and completed accordingly. 
• To assist Compliance manager, and housing technical services team in maintaining budget provisions by ensuring all approved jobs up to the value of £1k are justified and completed to a good standard and priced in line with the Contract. 
• To assist in ensuring key database IT systems are kept updated in regard to compliance areas. The current used system is Apex.
• Assist the compliance manager in maintaining good working relationships with sub-contractors and ensure the contracts are managed effectively. 
• To review and approve works orders for the works for compliance areas up to the value of £1k. 
• Assist the Compliance Manager to provide assurance about compliance issues with any relevant external bodies such as HSE where required.
• Assist with the risk with contractors carrying out works relating to Landlord Health & Safety Compliance issues.

Experience

Previous practical experience working within the same or similar role is essential
