In this hands-on and forward-thinking role, you’ll lead the development of secure, scalable, and user-centred digital services that support ECC’s transformation goals. As a Developer, you’ll work across frontend, backend, and cloud platforms to build high-performing solutions that meet user needs and align with modern engineering standards. You’ll play a key role in shaping ECC’s software engineering practices, supporting agile delivery, and enabling innovation through reusable components and robust architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of secure, high-performing frontend services, APIs, and microservices that support rapid iteration and meet user needs.
  • Ensure ECC’s cloud-hosted platforms are architected for sustainability, portability, and performance.
  • Develop maintainable, supportable solutions that simplify complex problems and promote reuse through common components.
  • Collaborate with the Test Team to produce test plans and ensure quality assurance throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate supplier integration portals for technical feasibility and compatibility with ECC’s infrastructure.
  • Set engineering standards and provide assurance that ECC’s software solutions align with best practices and global digital exemplars.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, contributing to risk assessments and continuous improvement across delivery teams.
  • Apply agile methodologies and foster a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
  • Coach teams in agile practices, promoting continuous learning, collaboration, and the sharing of expertise.

The Experience You Will Bring:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent by experience.
  • Proven experience delivering digital products or prototypes in complex environments.
  • Skilled in agile delivery, with the ability to balance priorities, manage ambiguity, and demonstrate impact.
  • Proficient in relevant programming languages and familiar with UI/UX principles.
  • Knowledge of Government Service Standards, Accessibility Regulations, and Information Governance.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Committed to continuous professional development and maintaining expert knowledge in your field.
