Salary: Grade 4: £26,873 - £28,282 per annum

Working Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Contract Type: 24 month Fixed term contract

About the Role

Castle Point Borough Council, in partnership with Active Essex and the Sport England Place Based Partnership (SEPP), is seeking a passionate and dynamic Physical Activity Coordinator to support efforts in tackling physical inactivity across the borough, with a particular focus on neighbourhoods in Canvey Island.

This is a key role in developing and delivering the strategic plan to improve physical activity levels in lower socio-economic areas. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of partners, including health professionals, schools, community organisations, and local residents, to create sustainable change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a local physical activity strategy aligned with SEPP goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners including Wellbeing Ambassadors, Social Prescribers, and School Sports Partnerships.
  • Lead marketing and communications for the SEPP locally.
  • Map existing physical activity provision and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote equality and diversity in all physical activity initiatives.
  • Support community engagement and capacity building within the voluntary sector.
  • Gather insights into barriers to physical activity and help design inclusive solutions.

  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Experience in community development, sport management, or partnership working.
  • A proactive approach and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of behavioural change techniques and marketing principles.
