Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Rochford & Brentwood Council to recruit a Customer Services Advisor on a full-time, temporary basis.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to be on-site 3 days per week.

Role Purpose

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused individual to serve as the first point of contact for all enquiries related to the new Food Waste Service. This role involves managing a variety of communication channels and delivering a high standard of service to ensure customer satisfaction and efficient issue resolution.

Main Responsibilities

Act as the primary point of contact for customers, providing accurate information and resolving enquiries related to the Food Waste Service across multiple platforms including telephone, email, and webchat.

Deliver courteous, professional, and empathetic service at all times. Use effective communication techniques to manage sensitive situations and de-escalate conflict when necessary.

Promptly and accurately record customer interactions and service requests using the contractor’s IT system (Bartec), ensuring data integrity and service efficiency.

To observe all the requirements of Safeguarding and to report any potential Safeguarding concerns in accordance with the Council’s Safeguarding Policy. Ensuring that all data and sensitive information collected by the service meets the requirements set out in the Councils’ policies and procedures meeting the legislative requirements of the current Data Protection legislation applicable

Experience You Will Bring

  • Strong working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office packages.
  • Experience of working within a customer focussed environment.
  • Knowledge of Local Government services.
  • Experience of dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of Local Government Waste Collections
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate information professionally, effectively and concisely.
  • Ability to actively listen and use appropriate questioning skills to elicit required information.
  • Ability to deal with customers holistically, resolving multiple queries in one interaction
