Adult Community Learning (ACL) is on a mission to empower Essex residents with lifelong learning opportunities - and we need a strategic, imaginative, and driven Marketing and PR Assistant to help us tell that story far and wide.

We are currently recruiting for a Marketing and PR Assistant to join our team. Please note, this is a part time role working 18.5 hours per week and the pro rata salary will be £12,541 per annum.

The Role:

Adult Community Learning (ACL) is Essex County Council’s (ECC) provider of lifelong learning experiences for Essex residents.

ACL offers qualifications to help people move nearer to, enter or progress within the workplace or gain skills to enhance life chances. The service focuses many of its programmes and activities on the hardest to reach communities within Essex. ACL learners have access to a diverse range of non-accredited courses which encourage creativity, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and engagement.

The Marketing & PR Assistant will support the Marketing & PR Officer and Marketing & PR Lead in the delivery of all aspects of marketing, communications and campaigns which support the marketing strategy, income targets and strengthen and promote the ACL brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Marketing & PR Lead, create and support the co-ordination of multichannel communications to raise awareness of ACL’s offer.
  • Work with the Marketing & PR Officer to create social media and email marketing campaigns that increase traffic to the website, raise awareness and provide relevant information and updates to our staff and learners.
  • Create and update content on the ACL website and identify areas for improvement e.g. accessibility and search engine optimisation.
  • Assist in the production of offline marketing materials, for instance posters, leaflets, campaign flyers, letters and adverts.
  • Attend career and marketing events to promote the ACL offer and increase take up of ACL programmes.
  • Support the Marketing & PR Officer to gather data using relevant analytics (social media, web analytics and email marketing).
  • Carry out other relevant tasks throughout the academic year as identified by the Marketing & PR Lead.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Educated to level 3 (A-level) or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development with knowledge in relevant professional area.
  • Excellent written skills, communication skills and creativity.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships which are collaborative in nature and engender delivery.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • A proactive, hands on approach with an attention to detail.

Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle.
