Adult Community Learning (ACL) is ECC’s provider of lifelong learning experiences for Essex residents.

 

ACL offers qualifications to help people move nearer to, enter or progress within the workplace or gain skills to enhance life chances.  The service focuses many of its programmes and activities on the hardest to reach communities within Essex.  ACL learners have access to a diverse range of accredited and non-accredited courses which encourage creativity, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and engagement. 

 

This role will lead on the design and dissemination of a portfolio of work to promote and deliver a range of programmes across the workforce that will contribute to improving outcomes for customers, learners & apprentices. The activities could be designed and/or delivered in person or by either commissioning appropriate providers internally or externally in ACL/ECC as appropriate.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Provide training, advice and guidance on the compliance and development of teaching standards around observations of teaching, learning and assessment of staff in centres across the Service. Support the fulfilment of observations as and when required

 

  • Provide training, advice and guidance to the Curriculum and Learning Managers and leads on best practice, effective, accurate and unbiased feedback from observations about the quality of teaching, learning and assessment against the Common Inspection Framework and professional standards, to ensure ongoing quality improvement.

 

  • Support line managers in the identification and setting of SMART targets for staff which influence improvements in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment to service and national education standards.

 

  • Support teaching staff and managers to complete SMART actions to a high standard, within agreed timescales, to ensure rapid improvement can be made and the impact measured.

 

  • Responsible for ensuring commonality and consistency across the ACL Service by using expert knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment to contribute to internal moderation and standardisation of observations and ensure judgements accurately reflect the quality.

 

  • Support colleagues in developing systems to improve the quality of and access to teaching, learning and guidance and to design innovative learning programmes which support the continuous professional development of staff.

 

  • Plan and deliver staff development and training within ACL. Identify development needs to ensure staff (including tutors) are able to enhance their skills and knowledge and be supported in their professional practice.

 

  • Undertake relevant training to ensure skills and knowledge remain current with changes associated with the quality of teaching learning and assessment. Ensuring a deep knowledge of educational standards and Ofsted requirements, plus innovations within the sector is maintained.

 

  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Educated to RQF level 5 (Foundation degree) and hold a Level 5 teaching qualification, or equivalent by experience.

 

  • Evidence of continuing professional development and good knowledge in relevant business area.

 

  • Significant experience within the education service sector, able to work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to support learners and ensure positive outcomes.

 

  • Demonstrable experience in quality improvement, learning and development tools and programmes from a variety of sources and using different technologies and digital solutions.

 

  • Experience of developing a good or outstanding education workforce across Essex, through effective workforce development and initiatives.

 

  • Experience of effectively managing and developing teams using coaching skills, driving improvements and development of others.

 

  • Evidence of good communication skills and the ability to influence others, recommending a diverse range of programmes to upskill others

 

  • Presents a compelling case for change and new methodologies.

 

Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
