*Please note this is a hybrid-working role, with a requirement to work at a functional work location 2-3 days per week on average, depending on business need. 

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Curriculum Lead for ESOL.

 

Adult Community Learning (ACL) is ECC’s provider of lifelong learning experiences for Essex residents.  ACL offers qualifications to help people move nearer to, enter or progress within the workplace or gain skills to enhance life chances.  The service focuses many of its programmes and activities on the hardest to reach communities within Essex.  ACL learners have access to a diverse range of accredited and non-accredited courses which encourage creativity, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and engagement. 

 

The Curriculum Lead will provide consistency across a specialist area to plan and develop a high quality adult learning programme, sharing best practice and bringing about change.  Requiring creativity and innovation to change current ways of working, whilst continually striving towards improved service delivery for customers.  Contributing to the development of a vibrant curriculum and ensuring a team of tutors are motivated and supported to achieve good results.

 

The role will be critical in influencing a curriculum design that is contemporary and builds a positive ACL brand.

 

Accountabilities

 

Responsible for ensuring the curriculum structure and delivery, including planning, designing activities, schemes of work/frameworks, assessment opportunities, annual reviews, liaison with the examinations team and identification of opportunities to use digital technology.

 

Contribute to the programme planning, marketing and sales campaign to build a positive brand image and promote courses that maximise the opportunities identified by the Commercial Team to increase numbers of learners and revenue.

 

Develop and maintain strong partnerships for mutual benefit, reaching diverse target groups, increasing funding and alternative revenue opportunities and improving the overall customer journey.

 

Participate in course review and evaluation procedures to modify and develop programmes accordingly, including student, employer, partnerships and staff perceptions.  Embed the analysis and use of a variety of data sources and an assessment of financial viability, to inform planning, improvement and decision making.

 

Recruit, induct and provide subject matter expertise to all tutors to support them in delivering excellent learning for our customers.  Working collaboratively with Quality & Compliance, be responsible for staff development and research work; conduct staff appraisal and in-service training, based on an assessment of individual service needs.   

 

Responsible for coordinating plans using ACL Quality Assurance Systems, to follow up actions from External Agency visits (this may include Verifiers, OFSTED etc).  Liaise with agencies, plan for and participate in visits.

 

Responsible for ensuring that delivery fully meets the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework to ensure learner progression against their aims, whether they are employability or wellbeing focused.

 

Provide information, advice and guidance to learners and support them to identify and embrace progression opportunities and maximise the benefits of learning, beyond just achievement of qualification.

 

Responsible for conducting all observations within and without specific subject area, as required, defined and set out by Quality & Compliance in line with Ofsted and best practice.

 

Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

 

The Experience You Will Bring

 

Qualified to RQF level 4/5 (Diploma) in adult teaching with a subject specific qualification or proven expertise in subject field.

 

Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant business area.  Possesses a coaching and mentoring qualification, or relevant recent experience

 

Experience of teaching ideally within an Adult Learning environment and good understanding of the Common Inspection Framework.

 

Experience of interpreting and analysing management data and complex information.

 

Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Databases.

 

Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills with the ability to lead change with teams.

 

Experience of providing support for appropriate progression pathways for adult learners with knowledge of the barriers to learning that can affect some students.

 

Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
