£36,641 to £43,106 per annum
Location: Chelmsford / remote working
Working Style: Anywhere worker - expectation to attend office (County Hall, Chelmsford) approx. 2 x monthly

The Opportunity
The Analyst role is critical in providing senior leaders and politicians
with the information and business intelligence needed for effective
leadership, governance and decision making. The post holder will have
recognised technical ability in a range of data science and/or analytical
specialisms and will provide detailed technical advice on their area of
expertise, championing an ‘analytics first’ culture both within and outside
of the function.
The post holders will be required to employ a range of data science, data
visualisation and analytical techniques in their work. Typical tasks will
include scoping and development of system / reporting requirements; ‘deep
dive’ analyses; mapping; and predictive analytics such as population and
demand forecasting. This will require working with a wide range of data and
evidence sources, including local, partner and open sources for the
development of services and products to agreed service standards.

The Experience You Will Bring
Essential:
· A proven track record in data analysis and statistical modelling. The
ideal candidate should have experience in analysing complex datasets,
identifying trends, and drawing actionable insights.
· Proven ability to produce high quality formal reports. The ideal
candidate will demonstrate experience in structuring complex findings into
clear, accessible, and impactful written reports that support decision
making and meet statutory and organisational deadlines.
· We seek candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills in visual data
presentation. They should excel at creating compelling charts, graphs, and
dashboards while adhering to accessibility standards and best practice.
· Experience in translating complex data insights into clear, concise, and
impactful presentations for diverse audiences, including senior management,
clients, and cross-functional teams.
Desirable:
· Demonstrated expertise in using tools such as Power Bi, Excel, Python, R,
or SQL for data manipulation and analysis
· Experience in storytelling through data, translating insights into
impactful narratives.
· Experience of having worked within local government or public sector
environment.
· Demonstrated ability to create compelling visualizations, infographics,
and reports that drive informed decision-making.
· A self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritise own workload in
a busy environment.
