The Opportunity Please note, this is a temporary opportunity for a period of 3 months, with the potential to be extended.
The postholder is required to drive forward a pragmatic and practical Health
and Safety agenda to ensure the council provides a safe system of work for
its employees and those affected by its operations, building a strong
Health and Safety ethos and awareness across the council.
The Health and Safety Lead will work across the Council and will build
effective relationships that encourage collaboration and exert influence
with colleagues, partners and external enforcement and legislative bodies.
They will take a proactive approach and be creative in anticipating
customer needs, providing challenge and delivering to make a real and
demonstrable difference to how the Council manages health and safety risks.
Accountabilities
The Experience You Will Bring
· Evidence of successfully delivering health and safety
strategies in similar complex organisations.
· Qualifications: Health & Safety diploma or
equivalent, Chartered member of IOSH (CMIOSH) as well as Demonstrates
commitment to own professional development
· Ability to make strong and influential relationships with
a broad range of stakeholders, providing both challenge and support
· Strong consulting and negotiation skills, including
excellent communication and interpersonal skills
