Arboricultural Officer)
The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for two Senior Arboricultural
Officers/Arboricultural Officers to join our Landscape Services team at
Braintree District Council. Appointments will be based on qualifications
and experience.
About the Roles
As part of a team within the Planning Service, these are varied and dynamic
roles that will allow you to have an input in how the District’s trees and
landscapes are managed and protected.
The work will include assessing trees for safety, dealing with TPO and
Conservation applications, providing professional advice and input to
Planning colleagues, and assisting the public and volunteers with tree
issues.
You will also be involved in tree planting initiatives to positively shape
the Council’s parks and open spaces.

This is an exciting time to work for Braintree and our Landscape Services
team play a critical role with responsibility for managing the Council’s own
tree stock and shaping new places by working alongside the Council’s
planning team and providing specialist arboricultural, ecology, and
landscape advice.
Experience:
What we’re looking for
You will have a have a LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection Certificate and
a full UK driving licence, so you can undertake the full range of tree
inspections on behalf of the Council.
The Senior Arboricultural Officer role
For the Senior Arboricultural Officer role, you will need to have a minimum
level qualification in Arboriculture, such as a Tech Cert, Diploma in
Arboriculture or FDSc in Arboriculture, along with relevant experience in
undertaking a range of arboricultural work for local authority or
consultancy.
You must also be a member of a relevant professional body, such as The
Arboricultural Association or the Institute of Chartered Foresters.
The Arboricultural Officer role
In contrast, the Arboricultural Officer role is an excellent opportunity
