*Please note this is a hybrid-working role, with a requirement to work in the Chelmsford office 1 day per week on average, depending on business need.

 

This role will be offered as a 12 month fixed-term contract or secondment.

 

We’re looking for a passionate, creative, and motivated Digital Marketing Advisor to join our dynamic Content Team at Essex County Council. As part of a forward-thinking team that champions creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement, you’ll play a key role in delivering meaningful digital work that makes a real difference to our communities.

If you’re a digital all-rounder with a flair for copywriting, a sharp eye for detail, and a love of technology, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. You’ll bring a strong understanding of how to craft engaging, user-focused content that meets business objectives and enhances the overall user experience.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

In this varied and rewarding role you will:

  • support recruitment campaigns for Fostering and Children’s Homes
  • support the flagship learning and skills campaign ‘Essex Year of Opportunity’
  • collaborate with colleagues across the wider Communications and Marketing Department, including campaigns, external communications, social media, design and internal communications
  • plan, develop and manage content across a range of platforms including websites and email newsletters.
  • have the opportunity to lead on individual projects
  • collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams
  • provide expert advice and digital marketing consultancy to colleagues across the council to deliver best practice digital content
  • ensure content meets legal requirements, accessibility standards and our internal content guidelines

About you

 

You’re a confident communicator with a collaborative mindset and a passion for digital innovation, including AI. You thrive both independently and in a team, and you’re comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.

 

Essential skills and experience

  • Proven experience in digital marketing and content creation
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills
  • Strong understanding of user experience, accessibility and digital best practice
  • Experience using CMS platforms (e.g. LGD, Umbraco)
  • Experience using email marketing platforms
  • Ability to analyse performance data and apply insights to improve content
