Waste Review Assessment and Engagement Officer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Waste Review Assessment &
Engagement Officer to join our Operations team on a 12-month fixed term
contract.
The Waste Review is part of the Simpler Recycling legislation that is due
to be fulfilled by April 2026 for residential waste collections and
recycling at flats within the District. The implementation of this change
is being delivered by a Council wide Project Team and managed and delivered
via the Operations Service.
Working across the District, you will support the development and
implementation of the Review by identifying risks, issues and
opportunities, collating research and ensuring residents and stakeholders
are kept informed and engaged.
You will support with the design and delivery of community campaigns,
engaging directly with the public and creating, editing and distributing
content for newsletters, emails and social media.
You will also work with residents, visiting properties to assess their
needs and requirements for additional waste collection receptacles, and
undertake site assessments throughout the District.
Agile/hybrid working is supported, subject to the requirements of the role.
Experience:
It is an essential requirement that you have some demonstrable experience
of data collation, input and analysis with the ability to report back
meaningful and detailed information to support the Project Team.
Strong administration skills and IT skills are essential. You must have
proven customer service experience and be able to deal with stressful and
emotive situations, remaining highly professional and polite.
You will have excellent customer service skills and experience of working
in customer relations or a customer facing role. You will be personable and
approachable, as well as having experience of working in a busy environment
with the ability to promote Simpler Recycling at every opportunity.
To be successful in joining our team you will need to be a team player with
strong interpersonal and organisational skills and an enthusiastic approach
to challenges.
The post will be based around the District for a substantial part of the
working week, so use of your own vehicle will be required
Accountabilities:
· To identify risks, issues and opportunities by undertaking site
assessments across the district to effectively inform the direction of the
waste review.
· Visit properties and, where necessary, engage with households to
establish any potential additional considerations required to enable
delivery of the waste review outcomes.
· Support the implementation of comprehensive communications related
to business goals and ensure delivery of all relevant project milestones
within the timeline.
· Participate in the design and delivery of campaigns within the
community, engaging directly with the public, measuring the effectiveness
and analysing impact to ensure approaches are altered, as required.
· To work with the project teams and other stakeholders to support
development and implementation of the Waste Service Review and any relevant
project strategies and plans.
· Proactively contribute to, and support, delivery of communication
plans.
· Create, edit, and distribute high-quality content for various
communication channels, including newsletters, internet, emails, and social
media.
· Assist in managing communications during critical milestones,
ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
· Support the collation of stakeholder feedback and identify areas
for improvement.
· Encourage best practice and innovation by benchmarking and
understanding current trends and new developments in communication and
areas relevant to waste services.
· Ensure all communications are consistent with the Council’s
policies and values.
· Support the tracking and analysis of communication initiatives,
providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
