Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Basildon Council to recruit a temporary Retrofit Project Manager on a 6 month basis in their Property, Asset Management & Development team. 

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Retrofit Project Manager to oversee the planning and execution of our retrofit projects. The Retrofit Project Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution. Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of construction and energy efficiency standards, with a keen interest in sustainable development and innovation. They should have a proven track record in managing projects from conception to completion and delivering results on time and within budget. They liaise with various teams and stakeholders, ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and according to specification.

Duties

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, risks, issues, resource allocation, cost, communication and quality control
  • Coordinate and oversee the execution of retrofit projects, ensuring that all phases are delivered on time and within budget
  • Conduct site inspections and evaluations to ensure the project is aligned with the retrofit design
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation
  • Prepare and present project status reports to management, highlighting any deviations from the plan and proposed solutions
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental and regulatory standards
  • Identify potential risks and issues early, develop risk mitigation strategies and escalate as necessary
  • Manage project changes and intervene to achieve project outputs
  • Finalize all aspects of the project, conduct post-project evaluations and identify successful and unsuccessful project element

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Proven experience as a Retrofit Project Manager or similar role
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field
  • Strong understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability principles
  • Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
  • Proficient in MS Office and project management software (e.g. MS Project )
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
