Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Basildon Council to recruit a temporary Stock Conditions Technical Assistant on a 6 month basis in their Property, Asset Management & Development team.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to the Stock Condition Team and ensure that databases and systems used by the team are kept up to date as required. Also to ensure that any written or telephone enquiries received are responded to in line with the Council’s key performance indicators. Post holders will be expected to adopt a flexible, adaptable and developmental outlook to their work areas, recognising and responding to the rapidly changing environment in which the team works. 

Duties

  • To undertake administrative and statistical functions relating to the general operation of the Stock Condition Team
  • To maintain and update the stock condition database as required
  • To facilitate the efficient operation of stock condition surveys by keeping tenants informed and arranging appointments as appropriate
  • To report and log HHSRS issues found during stock condition surveys to relevant department for action
  • To maintain appropriate records and key performance indicators, as required; and produce the relevant information on a regular basis
  • To liaise with Tenancy and Estate Management staff and other stakeholders or agencies to investigate and minimise non-access issues where works or surveys are required
  • To work with other agencies to support any tenants who may be identified as vulnerable or in need of additional support
  • To assist with the implementation of effective systems to reduce future non access.
  • To assist with all enquiries from tenants in respect of stock condition surveys, either by telephone, in writing or in person and ensure they are responded to in line with the Council’s key performance indicators
  • To scan documents into the Council’s stock condition database software, ensuring they are correctly labelled for viewing

  • Demonstrable experience of data inputting
  • Experience of successfully dealing with customer enquiries
  • Excellent administrative and organisational and IT skills
  • Can establish good relationships with customers and staff
  • Plans activities and projects well in advance and takes account of possible changing circumstances
  • Works in a systematic, methodical and orderly way
